Here we provide excellent research, teaching and community outreach services. Consultancy services are also available.
The graduates provide several professional services in different areas such as diagnostics, drug discovery, vaccine production, food production, pharmaceutics, environmental degradation, and biotechnology etc. We particularly produce graduates with technical expertise to accurately monitor diagnosis and research findings that are applicable to plant, animal, human and other organisms.
Bachelor of Biomedical Laboratory Technology
Aim
To produce a Medical Laboratory Technologist who is competent in providing efficient and effective laboratory services to improve quality of healthcare services.
Programme learning objectives
The BBLT programme aims to enable students to learn:
Procedures in laboratory investigations

Management of laboratory infrastructure, materials and human resource including superiors and subordinates

Mechanisms of quality assurance and control

Methods in disease surveillance and control

Biomedical laboratory ethics and professionalism

Relevant skills, knowledge and attitudes in laboratory science

Research and dissemination of findings

Principles relevant to an educator and counsellor in healthcare settings.

Entry regulations
Direct entry
The candidate must have obtained at least two Principal passes in Biology and Chemistry at Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education, UACE, obtained at the same sitting. The applicant must have passed ordinary level examinations with credits in English and mathematics at Uganda Certificate of Education, U.C.E) or its equivalency after verification with Uganda National Examinations Board (UNEB).
Indirect entry
Holders of a diploma in medical laboratory technology (credit and above) and registered with the Allied Health Professional Council (AHPC) of the Republic of Uganda
